Margaritaville Bar & Grill Expansion and Renovation
As a part of the Navy Pier Centennial Vision Project, the Pier Park’s structural slab was expanded to accommodate a newly designed wave wall. These renovations resulted in additional space which provided an opportunity for Margaritaville to also expand.
In January of 2014 Gensler was commissioned by Navy Pier, Inc. to provide design services for the Margaritaville Bar and Grill Expansion and Renovation. The scope of work included the expansion of the existing kitchen and cooler areas and enclosing the existing exterior seating area.
d’Escoto, Inc.’s Role
As a subconsultant to Gensler our team assisted in the development of architectural drawings by performing code checks and providing background drawings for the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) service provider, kitchen consultant and interior design firm. Completed permit plans were then submitted to the Chicago Department of Buildings and the Chicago Department of Public Health for review and approval. Permits were obtained on time and with minimal corrections.
d’Escoto, Inc. staff proceeded to produce plans for obtaining occupancy capacity signs, which were submitted to the Chicago Department of Buildings and the Chicago Department of Housing and Economic Development for review and approval. Our staff were also present for the on-site verification with the Department of Buildings.
