CPS Capital Improvement Plan
As part of its Capital Improvement Program, the Chicago Board of Education contracted for Project Director Services to be responsible for liaising between the various Board Departments and Schools to provide continuity and communication during the design, pre-construction, construction, close-out and warranty periods.
The scope of work involves developing and maintaining a good working relationship with the school Principals and other employees; coordinating sign-offs during the design, construction and warranty periods; translating design documents and transfer packages into basic documents for the principals to understand; developing and maintaining a lessons-learned program to institute a program of continuous improvement; and meeting with CIP Management Team once a week.
d’Escoto, Inc.’s Role
d’Escoto, Inc. is providing Project Directors to coordinate with relevant Board Departments and CIP Management Team with respect to design, pre-construction, construction and post-construction activities; overseeing the overall project budget for assigned projects and coordinating with the Design and Construction Managers to ensure that budgets are adequately managed for the work; scheduling and coordinating CIP work to minimize disruption to the Board’s educational programs and maximize value to the Board, which includes developing a staging and operations plan with the Principal at each design and construction milestone.
Additionally, d’Escoto, Inc. is providing Project Engineers who work closely with the Project Directors to assist with project accounting support and project scheduling.
