Northwestern Memorial Hospital Redevelopment
Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Redevelopment plan included a Replacement Hospital and a new Medical Office Building. The new facility posed numerous site-related logistical issues to create a massive complex of 2.1 million square feet, located in a 9-story base structure, with a 15-floor office tower and a nine-story hospital tower. The base structure was made up of a lower concourse, three public floors and five diagnostic treatment floors. The 15-floor office tower houses independent doctors, the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Faculty Foundation, and provides offices and clinical space for 600 physicians. Other building features include loading docks, a chiller plant, switchgear and emergency power generation equipment, medical gas storage and material handling.
