The Midlothian Station included new construction of a Metra station, while maintaining existing station intact. Repairs were conducted simultaneously on the platform and peripherals. The existing parking lot was reconfigured after demolition of the existing station and a new pedestrian access bridge was built over Tinley Creek. The entire project was successfully completed on time and within budget.
The 111th Street Station, Beverly Branch project involved the renovation of a historical landmark building, originally constructed in the 1890s. The entire station was raised to replace the existing rock foundation with a new concrete one. The canopy structures were demolished to prepare for new construction designed to resemble the original historical structure. Complete interior restoration was conducted to further preserve the landmark status, while upgrading necessary systems to comply with current codes, including ADA access.
The Roselle, IL station was also new construction, to expand passenger capacity and parking lot surface area, as well as enhance accessibility per ADA guidelines. Simultaneous construction on Midlothian, 111th, and Roselle stations and lots were completed on schedule and within budgets.
The Big Timber Station parking lot in Elgin, IL was constructed in August through October of 2004. The project consisted of site preparation, bituminous pavement, concrete sidewalks, curb and gutter, storm drainage, site lighting, signage, and landscaping. A total of 217 new parking spaces were added to an existing commuter parking lot. Work was completed under budget and in half the allotted contract duration.
The Lockport Station was similar in scope to Big Timber though it included additional features such as limestone piers and retaining wall, and an ornamental railing across one side of the site. Work also included the station parking lot.
